Vj shuttlers met acjc again in the competition for national 3rd placing, after beating them in the 2nd round with a score of 4-1. This time, vjc upset acjc once again with a score of 4-1, achieving the next best alternative to 2nd placing.

To celebrate the victories of vjc sports groups and performing arts groups, today is a full day off. Hockey girls did us proud for being A div champions. Not surprising with a team full of dsa players.. Nevertheless, a competition is a competition. The best man wins. Other achievements are soccer boys- 3rd, tennis girls- 3rd, bowling, soccer girls- 2nd, basketball girls A div champions and many other gold with honours from performing arts..

Therefore, we took the chance to catch pirates of the carribean. Not like the type of show that i can appreciate, i found the empty hall more amusing than the movie at 10am. -.-
Anyway, after the show, doreen shara weeho sam and me (together with elaine who just arrived) went to support the basketball girls in their finals.. against RJC. The rest of the guys just went on to play their stuff.

When we reached Toa Payoh sports hall, vj bballs were laggering by a few points, but after our appearance, their luck came back. Xinying got a free throw and both shots went in nicely. >< It was a close fight. With vj upseting the defending champion for the past 3 years with the score of 53-50! COngRats VJ Bballers!!

After that, headed back to anderson's sports day just in time to catch the intercca relay.. This year badminton got 3rd.. losing to track and malay dance of all ccas Stephanie, melvin, linda and jonathan ran. Surprised that jeremy din't run though. And poor fiona got hospitalised with stomach flu, if not badminton will stand a higher chance of getting 2nd place. (keeping the trend of all years)

Then there was the teachers' race. Some ex andersonians (4/6 mainly) challenged the teachers.. and guess wad.. of course the younger are fitter. lolx. And spiky blend in with the 4/6 people to run by wearing their class tee. -.- And he was so dying to run for badminton.. and he finally got to run. lol.

Sports day ended quite early.. It's quite boring after we have experienced JC's sports day with cheer leading and stuff.. perhaps anderson should start having cheer leading competition to liven the spirit.

Then a few of us went of dinner at yoshinoya.. and just talked crap until we got chased away.
junjie: haha.. not that i dint want to go.. but i happened to hav no money left. lol. (haobo says you will pay for me but i doubt so) so wads the use of me going if i cant play. ><>.<

wad a lousy scarecrow -.-

Season is almost over, two more games (against tj and rj) in the semifinals and finals respectively.. (Assuming that we proceed on successful, which we will). Having ambivalent feelings about the end of this season.

It means the preparation of the next season.
It means the stepping down of the seniors.
It means the start of unimaginable torture.
i feel so unprepared for all that.

It's a totally different experience in jc from sec sch life. The most distinct difference is that there's only 2 years in jc and 4 years in sec sch. The time spent in the team is only less than 18 months.. what more the time spent with our seniors is only less than 6 months. There isnt much of an attachment unlike in the sec sch team where we spent up to 3 years with the team. It seems much more like part and parcel of life in jc, the touch-and-go type of teammates instead of the go-through-thick-and-thin type of teammates.

On wednesday, vj shuttlers played against acjc with a supposingly fierce fight. The house committee members were brought down to render their support, yet to our disappointment they were less than supportive. -.- Sitting and clapping alone just din't bring out the atmosphere after the first singles was played. Mayyee played a good game taking down acjc's first singles winnie, therefore boosting our morale and they losing theirs. Vj successfully emerged as winners with a score of 4-1. Our first doubles played their first doubles and withdrew half way when isabel was feeling sick. Nevertheless, ms lim feels that we are champions and that 5-0 is ultimately ours. Cheers. Thanks to the threat, victorians strive to win even more. It makes us wonder why ac teachers can differ that much. Totally extreme characters.

On friday, vj shuttlers played against ajc in the quarter finals, beating them with a score of 4-1. It was a breeze for vj and a glorious win, perhaps our second doubles messing up a little.

It feels different to be part of the winning team, to feel pro and look like a pro. Having people fear you, mess up, instead of vice versa. One never knows how it feels like unless in the other's shoes. After vj's victory over aj, vj tops the group once again, undefeatable ever since round one.
There would always be a loser and winner in every game. As aj misses a placing in nationals top 4, it is inevitable that they feel upset. So it feels bad seeing them tear, we 3 cheered for them.

It kind of made me think whether one would choose between a bonded team or a productive team. As always, there would be politics in a good team creating even more conflict.

It's kind of unproductive to be totally deprived of training during the june holidays. The hiatus from shuttles is quite redundant i perceive since it never happened during the secondary school years.

End of week 8 marks the end of round 1 of inter-jcs nationals. VJ girls team will be up against pioneer jc, anglo-chinese jc and anderson jc in week 9 on the odd days of the week respectively. It'll be a packed week, hurdles after hurdles to cross. And after that, there would be a place in the finals - for us.

We were the red-shirts on friday (11th may), rooting for our guys' team up against jurong jc. Every match resulted according to plan, though the final results wasn't what the guys were planning for.

First up was yiyang, playing their 3rd singles. It was kind of head-to-head, but as much as the team din't expect a bonus point, it wasn't thought to be fatal. Those on the sidelines were cheering their throats sore, getting fired up with the atmosphere, hoping some of our power and fire could be afflicted onto our player(s) on court..
Though yiyang din't manage to upset the oppenent, he put up a good match and mr wong was pleased with his performance.

Then it was followed by chunhan and xijing.. The fire could be seen in xijing's face with every point that he took and the determination to win in chunhan was evident, which got the crowd (or rather the victorian supporters) to cheer even louder. Then vj took one game. So it's 1-1.

Vi- viva - vivala victoria..

We, red-shirts (dressed in tournament shirt which happened to be red) had half time "performance" of cheers during intervals when the players were taking a water break or stroking..

the third game was our 2nd singles , Kenneth phua, against their 1st singles. It was an easy game for the china player i suppose. It was then a 2-1 game with vj lagging by 1 point.

The most exciting match was the 2nd doubles game. Kelvin and yanlong were playing a game that would decide the team's fate. It would be the end if they lost, yet, kelvin played like he had never ever played better before, not succumbing to pressure. It was later that he said he was feeling so high in the court, like he has eaten estacy or something -.- They took the game and catching up to 2-2 score.

Then came adrian's singles game. He was put up against the opponent's second singles. He was strong, and appeared calm. But the game din't go as we expected. Not all tales ended with a happy ending.

The guys played well.. the spirit was high, though they din't manage to whiz through to the next round, vj unites.

vj unite. we show our might.
we show them how victorians fight.

Women shuttlers all for sexy dressing

Dress sexily like Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova and help improve badminton's glamorous image.
The call was made two years ago by the Badminton World Federation - and women shuttlers have not wasted time heeding it.
In the past week, they showed have not only superior strokes and smashes at the Aviva Open Singapore, but also more skin.
Gone are the mainly plain, oversized outfits and straight and baggy silhouettes.
These days, badminton's fairer sex are looking absolutely smashing. Hemlines have been raised and necklines lowered.
Zip-up fitted tops with a slight variation of the mandarin collar are paired with skorts - skirts with inner shorts - that flare below the hip.
Sleeves are also missing from some outfits, showing off slim and well-toned arms. Splashes of pastel colours - lilac, pink and baby blue - add a feminine touch.
These different fashion strokes were initiated by the BWF, which urged women players to wear more glamorous outfits at the 2005 World Championships in an attempt to court more spectators and participation for the sport.
Then, BWF deputy president Punch Gunalan said he wished women shuttlers would dress more like Sharapova, who is often seen in revealing clothes.
The BWF has a committee, headed by England's former women's and mixed doubles world champion Nora Perry, to work with manufacturers and players on new designs.
Badminton equipment and apparel giant Yonex, which outfits many of the world's top players, has been working with the BWF since 2005 to come up with more appealing designs.
Singapore's singles player Xing Aiying welcomes the changes, saying: 'The new outfits are more comfortable than before. Now I can move without restriction.'
Indonesian men's doubles player Candra Wijaya notices that the women are looking prettier.
'The outfits are also both fashionable and stylish,' he said.
A BWF official also hinted at the possibility of engaging the services of famous fashion houses to design future outfits.
Securing the services of Sharapova's designers would be a good start.

So.. that explains why international players are wearing skorts. To look more smashing and feminine? Though smashing can play for a pun.

Aviva Open Singapore came to a close with a display of awing badminton.

Boonsak, 25, came into the tournament unseeded but the style in which he beat the world's top player Lin Dan in the quarter-finals made people sit up and take notice. His 21-17, 21-14 demolition of shellshocked world number seven Chen put the icing on the cake for what was the biggest victory of his career.

The most spectacular match i thought was played by men's doubles. With every match point saved and game point played, we as sportmans feel the adrenaline and rush as though we're the ones in the game. That's what real sports people would feel when watching a competition - quoted from liying.

The intersch nationals for jcs has started this week. A showcase of wonderful play by jj and rj drew a crowd as onlookers from all schools crowded over after their matches were over. The china player from jjc played a stunning net shot after doing a split which left rj player stunned and thereafter placing the shot into the net. The match continued with the crowd cheering on with every spectacular rally played by the girls. The match ended only after jj china player withdrew from the match due to an injured back. She had collapsed on the floor after the 2nd set came to an end, but fighting on in hope to bring her team to victory. Such determination is truely respectable. The next match up on tuesday with jjc against acjc is another good match up for catch.

hmm.. vj shuttlers had overnight team bonding session at isabel's house on sat night. elaine, liying, alison and i were so pro that we dint catch a wink throughout the night and just sat by the mahjong table. Mahjong beats anything >.< What's more there's a pool table at bel's house.. She's a pro la.. just like chunhan. They must be spending their free time honing their skills which makes them such pro players.. Like bel said she played almost everyday after sch during her sec 4 years...

Anyway before that, some of us (wanyun, yanlong, elaine, alison, may and i) went to eat at laguna park.. and then they decided to change location of eating after that. i.e. jalan kayu. To eat prata with cheese/egg/mushroom/etc.. YUMMY lol! oh yeah and elaine actually managed to make weeyang appear which is much to my surprise. lol. so unlike of u. SO, it's like some food eating marathon >< spending all our time eating only. I wonder whose suggestion it was to go cycling.. which ended up with eating only when everyone was too lazy to cycle -.- typical people..

Monday (30th april) was mr wong's birthday.. vj had training at hougang sports hall all thanks to SC -.- and some sc boy still claim badminton girl don't wanna take 55 home. -.- anyway it doesnt matter since SC boy don read blogs.

TK girls are really thoughtful.. coming all the way down just to celebrate for Mr wong.. when they have no training with him on that day.. And even made him souvenirs and stuff.. which is really nice.. And then after training.. Mr wong was going to leave (cause people cook tomyum soup for him) .. and our cake hasnt arrived yet.. (ms lim was buying it).. so we had to stall for time.. -.- and suddenly alison became hard working and suggested doing footwork -.- but it was just after pt.. so we decided to hav team talk with mr wong -.- and made him change all our grips on the spot. just to stall time. lol.. so cute. Then when the cake arrived, (t's mango cake btw.. super healthy cause it's bought by ms lim -.- ) we sang happy birthday for him (guess wad the singing is softer than the clapping.. cause none of the guys sang -.- ) and ate the cake..

Today is labour day.. and it's soonkiat's birthday too! And alison too! happy birthday to both! So ABT celebrated soonkiat's birthday and meigui's belated birthday today.. It was suppose to be a surprise for them.. which wasnt much of a surprise though.. (catch meigui's blog for details).. then spiky weeyang meigui and i just hung ard till evening.. It's an expensive plan to celebrate birthdays on public holidays!! >.< it's like OMG expensive. =/ oh well.. as long as everyone is happy =)

the more i see u all, the more i know i will miss all.

Hi everyone. I should say you must be scrutinizing every part of my blog to be reading this arent you? Well, if you're that bored or interested in me, this is me you're looking at. Just a typical mundane human being living in this distorted world filled with what we call friends and foes. It's just me to get all maudlin and touchy about friendships and covalent bonds that i painstakingly built, and it's most dreading to realise what you call friends are actually fair-weathered ones and ditch you for others. You know.. that sort of ambivalent feelings which arises with such friendships. From young, my pedagogues have complained of me being temperamental and from there i have learnt and seen the world beyond me, where there happened to be people fairing far worst than i do. I realised in this period of isolation that life turns out to be happier for everyone if people knew how to be sate with life. It's just in the genes that human beings have to take things for granted and learn to appreciate things only when they have lost it. Sad isn't it?. I admit possessing that characteristic, which led me to losing what i should have treasured most, with great regrets. Now, like Krishna, we are inclined to seeking comfort from things that we are familiar with, unaccustomed to changes. It may not appear to be me on the outside, braving the winds of the outside world, strong and unbeatable. Like the saying goes, never judge the book by its cover, and i believe in that, in the way i credit people. We all treasure private space don't we?.. It's just human nature. And of course it most dreading to feel deserted by your friends isn't it.. ? To feel cheated and betrayed.. Well, live a sate life readers!
