Have been back from NBS FOC a few days now. It was really an experience because there were many things that i did for the first time in my life. That includes rolling in a barrel, getting into sex like positions on the grass and even clubbing. It was gross and disguisting, and we couldn't imagine how we would go about doing it, but we still did. It was so bad i felt like going home on the first day. But thank god, it could only get better.

There are lots of pictures on facebook, but i figured ten years down the road i probably wouldn't remember most of the things that happened at NBS FOC because nobody tags the pictures that they look unglam in and in the most awkward positions. So i would gladly substitute a thousand words for posting one picture here. Who knows these could just be speech material?

I've never been so dirty in my life (that's probably what all freshie would say) because field games was utterly gross. Lycan came to our first station and the girls had looks of anguish on their faces because they had to enter this ugly looking barrel that contains pieces of grass, mud, eggshells and whatnot. The guys enjoyed themselves kicking the barrel around, despite having their legs tied together, while the girls silently prayed for the shortest agony. We learnt that it was just the cleanest station so far, so the rest i need not elaborate. We rolled in grass hugging each other, buried our face in flour looking for gummy bears, slide through soap, soy sauce, egg yolks, and had lots of junk stuck in our hair. We couldn't wait to bathe, but it was just the start of the day.

We hung around, hosed ourselves clean and went for dinner in soaked up clothes. Had small OG games, laughed at people who did forfeit and sat around hoping to bathe soon. But NO. Itwas FAR from that. We had more station games around NTU after dinner, and late at night we went for a trail in the underground sewage. I think it was known as the NTU drain. We climbed into the manholes that were covered by grills. Only 2 candles lit up the place, governed by the front and the back of the pack. It was pitch dark, and the guys were really protective, at least desmond (who was in front of me) was. Really grateful for that, and we all concluded that the guys were pretty gentlemanly. Haha. We came to a high wall and the guys had to hoist the girls up. So naturally Zhihao being the tallest became our stepping stone. The seniors were evil, randomly pouring down water trying to extinguish our flame, but thankfully we all emerged safely.

We went back to NTU really hoping to bathe soon because it was way past 3am (which we heard would be bathing time). But not yet, we sat around somemore, some dozing off, some playing zi ji bie ren, and others HTHT-ing. The seniors refused to let anyone fall asleep, so they would cheer into their faces if they closed their eyes. We were at this station game and there was time to spare, so the programmers made the GLs entertain us. So our chief group leader was told to mingle with the dustbin. Mingling means to cheer with the dustbin in layman. So she did it, she went to the dustbin, shouted into it, and before we could expect, the other group leaders dumped her into the bin head first. It was crazy, at least we din't expect them to be that insane.

We heard the highlight of the night was yet to come, and all the seniors have returned just for this special highlight. Yet in my opinion, it was the most embarrassing night on earth. I must have repeated this story at least a million times because i can't help complaining, so if you've heard this before, skip the whole paragraph. Alright so this is the nanyang lake story.

The guys and girls were separated.. then the girls were blindfolded.. They told us they were going to slide us into a lake. And that's the nanyang lake. The nanyang lake was known to be haunted or something. And so, i had to shout a guy's name from our og so he can save me, and once i hit waters i was supposed to tred water (like really hard), and they made it seem really realistic, offering life jackets to non swimmers (but in the end everyone took life jackets since they felt really insecure.) So they told us to shout the name loud and clear, or else nobody would save us if they couldn't hear. It seemed like such a long time before someone came to take me away from the group. This grand senior was so evil she brought me to stand beside a tree, then another grand senior came and asked me if i stood there for long, so he brought me to sit down by the road. The wind was so strong, we all froze under the dark sky. Amazingly we could hear waves, which made the lake so realistic. (Or maybe i was hallucinating) The grand senior, jonathan the heineken guy, sat and talked to me for a while, then he left me with a IQ question and never came back. With a 3 litre and 5 litre bottle how do you get 4 litres? I found the answer, and was waiting for him to verify it, but he never returned. I fell asleep in the cold and was finally brought away to the slide. I waited for such a long time, then i realised i was the last to slide down into the lake. So... since i was the last.. the ogl said: "You must shout the name plus JIAYOU!" (because the guys are all damn shagged after saving so many girls so the JIAYOU was supposed to be a morale booster.) So i slide down.. and i din't shout the JIAYOU because i thought it was stupid, but i shouted the name twice. (Just in case. haha) When i hit waters, water was only 5cm deep (STUPID $%^*&*()#$%^&*(()) and i was stupidly trying to find water to tred. Then this guy told me to remove my blindfold, and goodness me all the OG guys were staring at me at the bottom. And because i was the last one, i was lost when i reach the bottom. The OGLs were like "ok everyone thats the end climb up the hill now lets go~" Nobody told me what to do, so i was like what on earth? The water was gross. Soap and muddy water, it goes into the nostrils and the feeling is definately not fun.

It was near daybreak when it ended, so in our wet clothes we were on the bus ride to Sentosa. We bathed in the dark (toilet lights weren't on at 6am) and when we all finished bathing, the toilet lights suddenly came on. (you could imagine our frustrations.) There wasn't time to sleep, because before i had time to close my eyes it was time for breakfast.

The 2nd day was station games at Sentosa, sand, water, beach games. There was this really gross station that we had to form a sandwich by passing ingredients down the line using body parts. So we had tomatos, cucumbers, bread, lettuce, mayonaisse, mustard passed down the line using our cheek, forehead, mouth, knee, elbow whatever. And because we were the slower team to complete, our poor CGL was put to the forfeit of biting from the sandwich. OMG. It's the worst forfeit ever. I swear some of the ingredients fell onto the sand. Lycan was good at the other games, we won the best costume performance, our superhero was Superwhore and i fell asleep standing up while the rest were discussing. Ops. hahaha. Ultimate.

After which, we checked into our chalets, hung around a bit, and then at night we were told to grab our blindfolds again and head out. They love to make us blindfolded for god knows what reason. So they took us on a bus ride and we were blindfolded on the bus. At our destination we got off, stoned around a bit more, zhihao was leading in zi ji bie ren (it's amazing how we play that game in all conditions) and before i knew it, we were at the entrance of old changi hospital. Two girls and one guy to a group. So i was with jessica and weihao ( i think). The guys were supposed to protect the girls apparently, but jessica and i were more like protecting each other. lol.

Fright night was pretty interesting. It was scary initially, we went from room to room performing tasks to get our clues. The first room we came to, i was made to enter this unlit toilet. The ghost told me to sit on the covered toilet bowl, then she came to me with her "baby" and told me to carry it. She made me sing a lullaby and i felt really stupid. The first song that came to my mind was "rock a bye baby" so i sang.... "Rock a bye baby on the tree top, when the wind blows the cradle will rock....." Then, when i came to the 3rd verse i forgot the lyrics, so i asked the ghost "err.. what's the next line?" And you could imagine how she stared at me. So i hum a stupid tune, she got angry and slammed the toilet door. It was pitch dark for one second then she opened it again and told me to get out. -_-''

Then there was this other room that we came to, i was told to sit on a chair. The were 3 ghost in the room, one lying on the floor with a knife in his chest, one standing with a skipping rope around his neck and another female ghost (lyn!) sitting on a chair opposite me. Jessica was told to remove the skipping rope from the ghost neck and i had to look for a teddy bear. I thought the skipping rope guy would have it, so i searched around him. Then i saw a barbie doll, so i asked him, "is this the teddy bear?" and he said "yesssssss....." So i took the barbie doll and gave it to the female ghost and she shouted "I SAAID A TEDDY BEAR!!!!" -_-'' stupid guy lie to me. So i went to search for it where the ghost lay on the floor. Then i saw the teddy bear. I reached for it, and he jumped at me. (ok kind of expected.) Then when everything was done, the female ghost shouted for us to get lost. And the skipping rope guy slid on the floor and grabbed my leg. EVIL. I would have stepped on his hand if not for the OGLs telling us to be nice to our programmers when we were outside.

There was this station where the guy was told to stand outside the room and face the wall, while the girls entered the room and had to enter two seperate tomb like features and search for the clue. They were really evil, because they covered the tomb with the cloth once you entered, the caustrophobic people would have died inside. In the tomb that i entered, there were incense paper strewned all over, and a fake skeleton at the other corner of the tomb. Seconds later they dropped in a light stick and told us to search for the clue. Apparently there wasn't any clue inside, because they shouted "CLUE FOUND" after a while. Both tombs dint have any clue.

I remembered telling weihao how lucky he was to have me and jessica as his group mates, because we were both so brave. Other girls would have freaked out and cried like mad. (which other OGs had.) Our OG had very brave girls (that was feedback from the ghosts) After fright night we returned back to chalet feeling very shagged. But we had to rehearsal for performance night the next day. Kudos to the skit committee for all the efforts, because we went to sleep and they were still rehearsing.

The next day we had pool games, seemed really fun but some of the girls had to sit out. There was courage jump which was jumping into the pool at diving lengths. Like those diving boards that sycronised jumpers in olympics would do. And i really wanted to try because it was like once in a lifetime experience. Zhiqiang was really scared, he stood up there for at least 10 mins and we cheered for him till we got tired haha. But he finally jumped and i felt really touched because i could imagine his anguish.

At night was performance night, the performances were all really awesome. And considering the limited time we had to practise and get organised, it was awesome work. But of cos we still believe lycan's performance was the best.

After which was SP interaction. So we were all blindfolded again. We got separated from our OGs and then i was sitting at one spot by myself. I could hear Mega talking to her SP. Hahaa. Then later this OGL came over and talked to me, asking me what was i thinking. So i said "Nothing much." But believe me it was far from nothing. I was trying to think of what to say later, then she told me my SP was coming and whether i was excited. so i said "Okay lah." And the next moment i could hear murmurings and my SP was brought here by another OGL. So we were supposed to talk and get to know each other, but we were more like entertaining the OGLs and there were lots of paparazzi around and we could feel flashlights everywhere as the OGLs made us get into weird positions. The funny part was that we were supposed to lie about our identity (means we cannot reveal our names or OG) so we were blatantly lying. (like i told him to make up his name and he made up a stupid name like TOM) And i thought such names appeared only in story books. So i introduced myself as coming from RJC despite wearing a vjc pe shirt. Because he said he was from nyp so i suaned him saying that i was smarter and whether he felt inferior. Then later an OGL came and spoilt my lie, saying "Oh so you're from VJ right?" But that's fine, since we were already blatantly lying. Then we played the traffic light game, he said he was evergreen, so i decided to say i was evergreen, and then his OGL made us do the V BOmb cheer modifying it such that it went

v....................... bomb.
v ah (x 3) bomb
bomb ah (x3) v
v ah bomb.
bomb ah v
we are we are we are .... evergreen!

Ok it was retarded, but we were both sporting enough to do it and we kept hearing people sniggering at us when we talked. Later shi yuan brought me back to the OG and he thought we talked like long lost old friends with great chemistry. Anyway it was in the name of fun.

We went back to chalet, totally losing track of time already. Had debriefing on the performance night and seniors and freshies exchanged our love for one another. Time passed really quickly and the next morning we woke up and were given a good make up during breakfast. We were all so tired, even the OGLs woke up late. Hahaha. So we rushed around, put on make up and went on for our food trail. We played the taiwan variety show 十字路口 and we went all over bugis with clues of our next station. In our hedious make up and big group that we travelled around in, we definately attracted alot of attention, not to mention making alot of noise. And for god knows what reason, weihao was made to do a forfeit. He had to go into Cheers and say to the cashier "Can i have some CHINGCHANGGONGGANG." It was hilarious and we left Cheers shouting "SMU gather!!" though the seniors were obviously wearing shirts that spelled NTU. We went around stations doing stunts and getting rewards of good food like the famous wanton mee, herbal soup, duck rice, desserts, indian rojak and many more.

After which we checked into another chalet in pasir ris, washed up and got dressed for SP night. It was a really weird idea. The girls were in the chalet rooms and the guys were waiting outside the door. The feeling was really weird, like the grooms coming to get the brides before a wedding. Then when we were all ready, the girls sat in the living room and the guys came in in threes, slowly being takan-ed before picking the girl up. The guys were to bring the girls on a date, pay for everything, and take taxi (not bus or walk). Poor things. haha. So my SP brought me to this very ulu place called sunset grill near seletar airport. We took a cab there, and actually came to a dead end. -_-'' It's that ulu. So we had the taxi uncle wait for us about an hour while we had our meal because no taxi driver would know how to access that place. The guys were attentive and nice, probably afraid we girls would complain and ruin their reputation! hahhaa. Afterwards we headed for butter factory and there i had my first clubbing experience. It was ok... my OG was really enthusiastic so we just got pulled onto the dance floor, drank abit and before we knew it, it was time to leave. We went back to chalet and was dying to sleep. But because it was the last night together, the seniors din't want us to sleep. We sat around and HTHT, playing the handphone game (which i thought was ultra stupid, plus my phone was dying so i just leeched on others. haha.), then i finally gave up and went to sleep.

The last day was more station games and we had this checkers mat where we played snake and ladder with the other OGs and compete to get to square 100 while completing the station games. Then we got the bad news of having to break camp early due to virus spreading around camp. Lots of people have gotten the fever and were sent home already, and there were h1n1 suspects. It was sad, but lycan sat around and HTHT some more till evening and finally broke camp.

Uni life is hitting in, and there's alot of getting used to.

This week has been really great, i've maximized my slacking time to the fullest and made people feel appreciate. My most awesome friend taught me to appreciate people recently, and i've been practising. (:

I'm really proud to make the E component of JEMs smile so brightly after the very disastrous class celebration on the weekends. Yeah it was worth all the effort for you jiemei, though my acting wasn't fool-proof convincing, at least there was a helpful waitress to back me up. HAha.

Shopping spree was horrible. hahaha. You should change your style roy.
Harry potter was fine, Obsessed was good. I enjoyed the company nevertheless.
And of cos my first sex on the beach last week.
I'm all set for uni~ Time to party more!
But i've no time to drive! OMG.

It was a start to a terribly auntie day. Maybe we call it a bad dress day.

We never had much problems getting out of bed, because mega mummy was always first out of bed to start the ball rolling.

We woke up early this morning (not that early actually we wake up at approximately the same time everyday) to catch a train to Tung Chung Station where we would ride a cable car up to the monastery on lantau island.

The cable car ride was really long as compared to that in Singapore. Like obviously, Singapore has no mountain what's there to ride up. So we told stories and got excited while camwhoring.

View from the cable car.

We arrived on lantau island and had to climb a long flight of steps to reach the buddha.

Short as it may seem, my legs felt tight after the climb. Guilty of lacking exercise. =X

Accomplishment! :P

After visiting the buddha, we went back to shop in our district.

At night, we visited Victoria Peak. It was the best day we had, yet the sloppiest outfit we could conjure, totally inappropriate for the occasion.

This was the tram that took us up to the peak. The steepness is at an amazing 45degrees (my own approximation) and we were imagining it descending like a roller coaster. It seems like a long and steady ride, apparently it's supposed to take us to the peak in seven minutes. The best ride this trip, despite having travelled by all kinds of transport ranging from sampans to cable cars.

We visited the Madamn Tussade because we had complimentary tickets. We had a hell lot of fun laughing at our pictures in the hotel room when we got back, as we zoomed in on the unglam shots and made sarcastic comments. The people next door must have thought there were hyenas living in our room.

Madamn Tussade

The first that caught our eye. It's supposed to impress meigui, but apparently she has seen too many of waxed jays.

We were trying to act like president, but i couldn't keep from smiling.

How about acting like queen?

The crown wouldn't stand properly, i look like a shagged queen.

Kapo par sat Auntie trying to see what's up with shakespear..
Shakespear:" What is she looking at?" *frowns*

Jackie:"Par sat auntie getting her hands all over me.." Hahaha!

Faizah thinks we look like husband and wife~ hahahaa. So the outfit fits a homely scene.

I typically like these pictures with James bond.

Nicely taken.

An attempt to block yaoming's shot, but i look like a dwarf beside him. Successful jump shot though. hahhaa.
I look forward to visiting Madamn Tussade at ShangHai! Madamn Tussade at Hongkong is too limited! I din't even see any badminton players =(

After which we took a cab back to our hotel. The taxi drivers are seriously skilled. They drive at a speed which amazes me, it feels just as exciting riding a taxi as on a roller coaster. Ironically the roads are more congested than in Singapore, yet the speed limit is higher and they overtake at curves~

Time seems to fly by and before we knew it, it was time to head home and face reality. We did last minute shopping at Stanley after a long bus ride on the last day. We saw buses that were powered by electricity and runs on cables and tracks. If they ran out of tracks on windy days then bro says people will have to push it back on track.

Where we stayed for the past few days in HOng kong.

Kimberly Hotel (:

Had creamy lasagne for the first time in the spaghetti house at the hongkong airport.

It was a great trip with the JEMs. Next destination- Korea! Don't count on me. Hahaha.

~ 12:35 PM ~

The sun was up really early. At 6.45am it felt like 9am in Singapore.

Breakfast was at a cafe near our hotel. This morning was on tight schedule because we were expected on a half day city tour. As soon as we sat down at a table, three cups of tea dropped in front of us. That was the practice i realised, when we sit down at an eatery they immediately served you drinks - usually tea or water.

I still prefer the toast from hongkong cafe in singapore, it tastes more crispy and thicker, not flat looking like this.

Our tourguide, who was trying very hard to be funny. That poor guy, nobody laughs at his jokes. Let's give him some credit. We were brought to some tourist spots and manufactures, but we concluded that we would be better off on our own because the people there were pretty pushy in making us purchase their goods, it made us feel very bad for rejecting them. But anyway we still made the best out of the tour, enjoying the sights that we saw.

Golden Bohemian Square

That's the tallest tower in Hongkong.

Aberdeen Fishing Village

As the name suggests, this is a fishing village where the villagers lived on their ships, sampans, boats (whatever you call it) for their entire lives. The younger generation has moved on to land (because of government policy) while the older generation are entitled to freedom of choice. We rode on a sampan to see the living conditions, and it wasn't exactly like paradise. The waters were littered, and the ships were rundown.

Salted fish being dried in the sun.

Our sampan driver, once again we din't expect it to be another business gimmick. She surprised us when she uncovered a whole lot of souveniors which were already nicely laid out under a blanket.

Of course, the mode of transport was by boat. What else did you expect?

The renowned jumbo floating restaurant in the backdrop. Apparently the food isn't that fantastic as our tourguide suggested that we could get better food out there because people are paying for the decorations (as expected).

Repulse Bay

Supposingly the nicest beach in Hongkong where some of the richest people live nearby.

Our tourguide said Jackie Chan lives up there in one of the houses and if we wanted to have tea with Jackie we could tell him because he knew Jackie very well, but the problem is Jackie din't know him.

We also visited a herbal shop and jewellery shop which we din't enjoy (as expected)

We were dismissed at Tsim Sha Tsui and lunch was on our own.

We tried the noodles there and it was unusually salty. I swear it wasn't my fault.

In the evening, we went to see the avenue of stars. It was a performance that occurs every evening at 8pm. The buildings would all light up with lights and act in sync with music.

Avenue of Stars

We sat along the coast and enjoyed the sea breeze. It was somewhat like the boat quay just many times better.

Very pretty sight :D

Nicely coloured buildings.

We decided to walk back to our hotel after the show, at the same time doing some shopping along the streets. We walked along our favourite Nathan Road, and scary people randomly talked to us which we just ignored (because we din't know what they were saying) and there were people touting and telling us they had rooms to rent if we wanted. 0.o In the Tsim Sha Tsui area, we were casually shopping and decided to head back to the hotel when the shops started closing. And with a wrong turn, we got lost. The streets all looked the same and with only the night pubs left open, some streets were dark. Random girls walked out looking drunk. We found our way back eventually, we just needed to follow the right signs.

Yeah i'm back from Hongkong (:

It has been a wonderful time with my lovely jiemeis.

After spending a few days together, we saw the unglam side of each other, had late night heart to heart talks, camwhored like nobody's business, laughed till we cried and got comfortable in silence.

It hasn't been the most carefree holiday that we could ask for, hindered by the fear of influenzaA. The plan has been postponed time and again, but eventually we still went ahead with it as local cases got uncontrollable.

It's really great travelling with friends, because we learn to be independent. Everywhere we went it's handphone-wallet-passport-camera check before leaving. We got on the plane (unglam photos with mask on facebook) and arrived in HOngKoNg!

There were some minor crop ups when we arrived, because we couldn't find the person who was supposed to pick us up. So we contemplated between calling the airport hotline and standing around to wait, indeed the latter was more user friendly. True enough, the person appeared before us, we couldn't locate him because he wasn't holding the recognition card nor was he standing at the spot where we were to find him. tsk tsk slacker. But anyway he was friendly and helped us take a photo in hongkong airport.

We got on the coach that would take us to our hotel- Kimberly Hotel

It was OMG empty and we had the bus to ourselves~

Kimberly Hotel

Our room!

After enough of camwhoring in our room which was still nice and tidy, we went out to shop. There wasn't much to do because half the day was gone.

Purchasing our Octopus cards.. Taking cab across the island is Expensive because we had to pay Toll. We learnt that one day. We had a little advice from our "tour guide" to take cab within the island and MTR across island. Hongkong could be divided into Kowloon, Lautau and Hong kong islands.

We walked along Nathan Road (which stretches for at least three MTR stations) and in ladies street (we had no idea it was) till we got so tired, and Elaine craved for bubble tea~ "Pearls! I'll buy pearls if i see pearls!" They had this big cup of bubble tea that cost about S$2plus which they call Gong Cha, the queue was super long, business was continuous. We saw it on the first day but skipped it because we were still enthusiastic about other things. By day 3, elaine's cravings just couldn't be resisted. hahaha.

We stood by the street looking on at the crowd, enjoying our desired bubble tea. Hongkong had twice as much land as Singapore and twice as many people. But 75% of the land were mountain hence that makes flat land extremely populated. The buildings were very tall, each residential building were easily forty storeys high. And we had dinner at Ajisen Ramen. Apparently Ajisen in Hongkong has a different menu from that in Singapore and we were recommended to try.

Suspicious character. Heh.

We continued shopping and took photos of the street after dinner.

We came across a VJC shop. LOL. Which was EX. At that time the shop was already closed because we were walking back to the hotel. And we looked like terrorist suspiciously taking photos infront of a dark shop.

Irony of the signboards.

End of day one. To be continued..

Hi everyone. I should say you must be scrutinizing every part of my blog to be reading this arent you? Well, if you're that bored or interested in me, this is me you're looking at. Just a typical mundane human being living in this distorted world filled with what we call friends and foes. It's just me to get all maudlin and touchy about friendships and covalent bonds that i painstakingly built, and it's most dreading to realise what you call friends are actually fair-weathered ones and ditch you for others. You know.. that sort of ambivalent feelings which arises with such friendships. From young, my pedagogues have complained of me being temperamental and from there i have learnt and seen the world beyond me, where there happened to be people fairing far worst than i do. I realised in this period of isolation that life turns out to be happier for everyone if people knew how to be sate with life. It's just in the genes that human beings have to take things for granted and learn to appreciate things only when they have lost it. Sad isn't it?. I admit possessing that characteristic, which led me to losing what i should have treasured most, with great regrets. Now, like Krishna, we are inclined to seeking comfort from things that we are familiar with, unaccustomed to changes. It may not appear to be me on the outside, braving the winds of the outside world, strong and unbeatable. Like the saying goes, never judge the book by its cover, and i believe in that, in the way i credit people. We all treasure private space don't we?.. It's just human nature. And of course it most dreading to feel deserted by your friends isn't it.. ? To feel cheated and betrayed.. Well, live a sate life readers!
